Hydrating vs. Moisturizing
Hydrating and moisturizing get used interchangeably all the time, but they do different jobs.
Hydrating means adding water to your skin. Think of ingredients like aloe vera, glycerin, or hyaluronic acid. They help draw water into the skin.
Moisturizing means helping your skin hold onto that hydration by reinforcing your natural protective barrier. This is where nourishing fats and oils, like tallow, really shine.
Here’s an easy way to picture it:
Hydration fills the bucket.
Moisturizing keeps the bucket from leaking.
Healthy skin needs both.
If your skin feels tight, flaky, or rough, even after drinking plenty of water or using a hydrating product, it may simply need something to help seal that moisture in.
Tallow & Tend products like Daily Duty Hand Cream, Body Butter, Overnight Renewal Moisturizer, and our Lip Balms are great for this. Each one is designed to help support your skin’s barrier and reduce moisture loss where you need it most.
Sometimes the biggest difference in your skin isn’t adding more products. It’s using the right ones.
